Andre the Giant has a troop that includes Mattel.

The toy giant has teamed up with Obey Giant founder Shepard Fairey for the latest edition of the UNO Artist series. The new collectible UNO deck features unique Fairey designs and can be purchased exclusively through Mattel’s growing Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) platform, Mattel Creations.

“We are delighted to partner with acclaimed artist Shepard Fairey,” said Mattel President and Chief Operating Officer Richard Dickson. “Through organized partnerships, Mattel Creations offers toys as art and art inspired by toys, and the UNO Artist: The Shepard Fairey Collaboration series is the embodiment of this philosophy.”

Fairey’s offering uses the UNO deck as a blank canvas for interpretation and follows the previous UNO Artist Series decks of Nina Chanel Abney, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring

“I have been honored to work with such an iconic brand as UNO to translate my artistic vision into this medium,” said Fairey. “As I continue to look for unexpected ways to connect with people, I loved the challenge of balancing my voice and visual language combined with UNO’s recognizable visuals. Plus, this partnership is personal to me – I played UNO with my family as a kid, and so the game brings back fond memories to me, and I love that my art can be part of the conversation while friends and families enjoy a game of UNO. “

The UN makes a donation on Fairey’s behalf to the Ocean Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the ocean from today’s world’s greatest challenges. This is the first deck in the UNO Artist series made without plastic or cellophane decks.
