Recently opened in July, this new Connecticut winery is receiving rave reviews for its many wines and beautiful panoramic views.

Stappa vineyard is located at 403 Derby Avenue in Orange, hosting its grand opening in July. I love their website which says “One Family, Grapes and a Plot of Land”. They declare on their website that their new vineyard is a family business where they say, “We harvest with our children and our pets.”

Their parents’ dream and passion was to create their own wine estate. Last year, three sisters made that dream come true by creating Stappa Vineyard. The family had a head start in the business, spending summers in Italy working the land.

Alexa Charles, a member of the Stappa family, enjoyed making table wine growing up with her father, training to be Stappa’s associate winemaker. The family calls winemaking a way of life, and it shows through their excellent wine selection.

The family history takes us back to the Italian village of Gioia Sannitica, where Father Pietro was a shepherd and his wife, Antonietta, grew peaches and tobacco. In the 1970s, they packed their things and moved to Connecticut.

In 2008, they left the hospitality industry to pursue their dream by purchasing a plot of land in Orange, Connecticut. Fast forward to 2021 and now Stappa Vineyards has over 5,000 vines on the property.

With 4 and 5 star reviews on Yelp, Stappa Vineyards is on its way to becoming one of Connecticut’s top wineries. Need more information ? Click on stappavineyard.com.

WATCH: The best beers in any state

To find the best beer in every state and Washington DC, Stacker analyzed BeerAdvocate January 2020 data, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real time. BeerAdvocate makes its decisions by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington DC and applying a weighted ranking to each. The weighted rating pulls the beer towards the list average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rating. Only beers with at least 10 ratings will be taken into account; we took it a step further by only including beers with at least 100 user ratings in our gallery. Read on to find out which beer is the best in each of the 50 states and Washington DC.
