Today, another seasoned developer announced their departure from PlayStation’s beloved Sony Japan Studio.
Shunsuke Saito, best known for his work on the Gravity Rush series as a character designer and art director, announces his departure.
The announcement was made on Twitter, alongside a beautiful illustration of Gravity Rush protagonist Kat.
You can check it out below.
Saito-san is just the latest in a veritable exodus of talent from Sony’s Japan Studio, including a group led by Gravity Rush and Siren creator Keiichiro Toyama, who formed Bokeh Game Studio and producer Masami Yamamoto.
Sony Interactive itself has confirmed that it is revamping the studio with a focus on Astro Playroom developer, the ASOBI team.
It is certainly sad to see one of Sony’s most original and creative studios losing so many developers who have marked its history. We’ll have to wait and see if more will leave, but at this point it certainly wouldn’t surprise me.
Of course, we’ll talk about Saito-san’s next steps, and let you know what he’ll do next when he officially announces it. For now, no clue has been provided on its future plans.
