On Friday, the Brooklyn Nets introduced Cameron Thomas at their home at the HSS Training Center and Thomas introduced himself to Nets fans, answering their questions via a Reddit AMA and Instagram Stories Q&A.

As the first of five players selected to Brooklyn, Thomas was selected with the Nets first-round pick at No.27. The Nets added a second first-round player in principle agreeing to a trade with the Phoenix Suns. to acquire the draft rights for 29th pick, North Carolina center Day’Ron Sharpe.

In the second round, Brooklyn added Kessler Edwards of Pepperdine, Marcus Zegarowski of Creighton and RaiQuon Gray of Florida State.

Thomas, a 6-foot-4 guard, played one season at LSU, averaging 23.0 points and first-team All-SEC honors.

Thomas got his first glimpse of Brooklyn’s training facility on Friday, checking out the bright and expansive training ground and climbing up to the building’s rooftop terrace.

During his IG Q&A, Thomas was asked what he can bring to a team with league goals for the coming season.

“I’m just going to be able to score, score off the bench,” Thomas said. “You can never have too many goals so I can score with these four guys, you can never have too many goals in the NBA. I will also bring the playmaker with the ball in my hands. If these guys need to. of a break, I can do it.

He can’t wait to start his NBA journey with a team he has followed closely over the past season. Thomas said on draft night that James Harden was his current favorite player and was looking forward to playing with and learning from Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

“I feel like I’m going to fit in well,” Thomas said, “just me being a gym rat and me loving being in the gym, working out my craft, so I feel like just loving myself. just being in the gym can fit me into this team really well, so I can’t wait.

On his Reddit AMA, Thomas has covered a bit more ground. He listens to NBA Youngboy, Pop Smoke, Biggie and Tupac. His favorite SpongeBob character is Squidward. He is evaluating the best games of his season at LSU as competing against Michigan, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and St. Bonaventure.

For sneakers, he’ll wear any of Kobe Bryant’s designs and calls Bryant his all-time favorite player.

“He inspired me to be awesome every day and I tried to imitate him in every way I could on or off the floor.”

Even after Thursday night’s NBA Draft and Friday’s visit to HSS Training Center, Thomas is still getting used to the idea that he is now an NBA player.

“Not yet. It probably won’t happen until the first match of the Summer League or after training camp has started.”
