Apple TV + today announced a new partnership with WildBrain to become the exclusive broadcast house for the children’s puppet series “Yo Gabba Gabba!”
In a very similar vein to the Peanuts deal announced last year, Apple TV + will become the new home for all Yo Gabba Gabba classics! episodes and specials. The company has also commissioned the production of 20 new half-hour episodes.
While Apple TV + focuses primarily on franchises and entirely new originals, Yo Gabba Gabba will be part of a selection of past catalog content on the service, joining Fraggle Rock, Charlie Brown and the Long Way Down travel docuseries. and Long Way Tour with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman.
Either way, Apple has ordered new original series to complement back catalog availability, and the same goes for today’s announcement of the Yo Gabba Gabba! Partnership.
The current Yo Gabba Gabba! slate comprises 66 episodes that started airing in 2007, originally on the Nickelodeon network. The episodes are currently available for free on YouTube; it’s unclear whether the deal with Apple means these will be removed.
