Updated December 20, 2021 by Lynn Gibbs: When winter comes, Nickeloden fans want to know the best Spongebob Christmas episodes to watch. And while Sponge Bob SquarePants doesn’t have too many episodes dedicated to the Christmas spirit, the series has a few winter-themed episodes to chill out. Many didn’t know it could snow in Bikini Bottom, but when it does, SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, and even Squidward know how to make it magical.
11 “Out of the picture” – 5.3
Fans rated “Out of the Picture” as the worst winter-themed episode of. Sponge Bob SquarePants. This was the 10th episode of Season 10 and revolved around the art of Squidward.
Spongebob Fans took pity on Squidward when he tried to sell his art to the Krusty Krab. But when Mr. Krabs closed it, he sent Squidward to Antarctica to bring the art to a big buyer. It was in the snowy country that Squidward encountered a snow sponge. Funny enough, SpongeBob SquarePants were already in Antarctica eating ice cream by the time Squidward got there. They then sell frozen crab cakes to a nearby whale before returning to Bikini Bottom to sell more art. It was a fun episode that brought Squidward and SpongeBob together on a snowy terrain different from their norm.
ten “SpongeBob’s Christmas Road” – 6.7
In Season 13, SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, and Plankton traveled to the North Pole to meet Santa themselves and give him a gift after SpongeBob SquarePants forgot to give it to him on Christmas Day. Plankton followed him as a way to get his name back on Santa’s Right List, of course. All three derailed and in one of the SpongebobFunniest live action scenes, thought Patchy the pirate was Santa Claus. Eventually, they found themselves at the North Pole talking to Santa Claus.
The adventurous tale of the three made it one of the highest ranked episodes and one of the happiest episodes related to the holidays.
9 “Kwarantine Krab” – 7.3
âKwarantined Krabâ isn’t a typical winter-themed episode for the show, but it does introduce flu season when Mr. Krabs contracted the clam flu. A health inspector assumed the restaurant was sick and quarantined anyone who worked at the Krusty Krab or ate inside. They locked the doors and protected the windows so that no one could come out.
Winterscapes began when SpongeBob SquarePants were seen having fun in the restaurant’s freezer. From sledding to eating ice cream, SpongeBob SquarePants viewed his 40s as a slumber party with his best friends. The group even had a snowball fight in the Krusty Krab freezer.
8 “It’s a SpongeBob Christmas!” “- 7.4
“It’s a SpongeBob Christmas” was the 23rd episode of the eighth season. To celebrate the holidays, this special episode had a longer duration. It was Christmas in the episode and Bikini Bottom was excited for Santa Claus. As always, Plankton had an evil plan up his sleeve: deliver a fruit cake filled with “Jerktonium” to Bikini Bottom to spoil the Christmas cheer. He also put everything Bikini Bottom on Santa’s naughty list, making him one of the least liked characters.
SpongeBob SquarePants helped deliver the fruit cake (ignoring the Jerktonium) and the entire town was quickly filled with angry people. Plankton was considered the only one on the right list and was greeted warmly by Santa while everyone was on the list of baddies to be jerks. SpongeBob SquarePants then had to save Christmas to find Santa’s good graces. This seasonal episode was beloved and was animated in claymation.
seven “Frozen Confrontation” – 7.5
Season 8’s âFrozen Face-Offâ celebrated winter with a sleigh competition. Everyone at Bikini Bottom entered because the prize was $ 1 million. SpongeBob had Gary leading his sled, Patrick chose gummy worms to lead him to victory, and Squidward had a worm (who chose to sip tea instead of winning the race).
While everyone was trying to win the cash prize, Plankton was busy trying to steal Krabby Patty’s secret recipe. When the gang realized what Plankton was up to, they attempted to detour through the Krusty Krab. Surprisingly, they froze while doing it. Sandy made a fire to warm everyone up so they could save the day (and hopefully make some money). The adventure of this episode is what earned it a high rating as it showed how each character’s mind works in a given obstacle.
6 “The Old Boyfriend of Plankton” – 7.8
âPlankton’s Old Chumâ was part of Season 12 and showed Plankton creating a fake vacation for his own benefit. Most of Plankton’s best episodes revolve around him at the Chum Bucket, and it was no different. Plankton realized he had nowhere to throw the old buddy. When he met SpongeBob SquarePants, he convinced him it was Chum Day, a holiday like Christmas. On this day, a person is supposed to give their boyfriend as a gift.
SpongeBob has fallen in love with him and takes Plankton’s old pal out of his hands and lays him around Bikini Bottom. When the city got mad at the dirt, SpongeBob convinced them it was vacation! But just as SpongeBob SquarePants hired the whole town, the health inspector deemed Bikini Bottom too dirty and blamed Plankton. The hilarious premise of this episode is what gives it such a high score.
5 “Shopping list” – 7.8
The “Shopping List” does not include Santa Claus or snowball fights, but does include the yeti who lives in the cold. In the episode, Mr. Krabs gave SpongeBob SquarePants an intense shopping list with weird things that aren’t easy to find. Sandy decided to help SpongeBob SquarePants because she was a bit more courageous than him, especially when it came to picking up a yeti’s hair.
A yeti is a large, mythical creature that tends to live in cooler elements, surrounded by snow and caves. Sandy and SpongeBob did the job with regards to the Yeti’s hair, but the Yeti eventually found it to retrieve it. It’s a little touch of winter magic that came into Bikini Bottom that fans loved.
4 “Krabs La Mode” – 8.2
Season 5’s “Fashionable Krabs” showed Mr. Krabs turning the Krusty Krab into an unintentional ice rink for the winter season. For Squidward, turning down the heat on a freezing cold in Bikini Bottom was one of the worst things Mr. Krabs could have done. Due to the expense, Mr Krabs set an alarm at the Krusty Krab so that no one could turn up the heat. At the same time, Plankton turned the thermostat as cold as possible to drive customers out of the Krusty Krab and into the Chum Bucket.
Thanks to the cold, Mr. Krabs transformed the Krusty Krab into an ice rink, complete with skates and Krusty Krab themed activities. Plankton becomes enraged that his plan has failed and tries to stir the pot even more. The idea of ââan ice rink inside a fast food restaurant made this episode a landmark event.
3 “The survival of fools” – 8.8
In the second season, SpongeBob and Patrick went to Sandy’s house to play, but found his entire dome covered with a shield with a sign that read, “Keep Outside.” The two sneaked around to find Sandy asleep. However, Sandy didn’t look like Sandy – she was much taller and more fuzzy than before. The two best friends realized that Sandy was hibernating for the winter but still playing in her snow-filled tree dome. What happened next was an adventure against a wicked hibernating squirrel.
2 “Christmas who? “- 8.9
“Christmas who? ” was a Spongebob special which is considered one of Nickelodeon’s best holiday specials. In it, Sandy was decorating her tree and getting ready for Christmas. SpongeBob and Patrick have never heard of Christmas and learned everything from Sandy. SpongeBob SquarePants told Bikini Bottom about the holidays and about Santa and got everyone involved.
Bikini Bottom quickly became a Christmas Wonderland (with the exception of Squidward), but when Santa failed to appear on Christmas morning, Squidward took it upon himself to become Santa and encourage Bikini Bottom. It was a huge episode for Squidward and proved that he didn’t hate everyone as much as he said he did.
1 “Snowball effect” – 9.2
“Snowball Effect” is the highest-ranked winter-themed episode in the Spongebob the universe so far. It came out in Season 3 and showed Bikini Bottom under a blanket of snow after an iceberg crashed above it.
SpongeBob and Patrick proved to be BFF goals when they spent the episode having a snowball fight, but things took a turn when Squidward got involved. The three of them built forts to protect themselves from snowballs, but Squidward went too far and found he was having more fun than he thought. Nothing does Spongebob fans are happier than when Patrick, SpongeBob SquarePants and Squidward get along.
